Downloading the BlackBerry® Desktop and Handheld Software
NOTE: New BlackBerry® handhelds ship with a copy of the BlackBerry Desktop Software. However, newer versions of the software are released by Research In Motion® and T-Mobile periodically. It is always best to obtain the latest software versions to ensure your BlackBerry® is running at the very best. Our staff carefully screens this software to ensure it meets T-Mobile’s standards for quality and functionality. T-Mobile provides the latest software updates free of charge.
To download the BlackBerry Desktop and Handheld Software, perform the following steps:
Warning: Pop-up blocking software may prevent the software from downloading.
1. Go to www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade.
2. From the BlackBerry Upgrade page, next to your handheld, click get software.

3. From the Product downloads page, in the BlackBerry® Download Center text box, type your mobile number, and then press the ENTER key.

4. On the Available Downloads page, under BlackBerry Software Updates, click the link for the software update that you want.
NOTE: The links on the Available Downloads page will download the following:
  • Desktop Manager and Handheld Software Upgrade Instructions: This PDF file describes how to install the Desktop Manager Software and the Handheld Software.
  • Desktop Manager Software (4.0.1.12): This software must be installed on your computer for the Handheld Software upgrade.
  • Handheld Software Version (4.0.2.49): This is the software upgrade for your handheld.
  • Application Download Instructions: Instant Messaging Installation Instructions: This PDF file describes how to install the instant messaging clients on your handheld.
  • Application: Instant Messaging (4.46.17) AIM, ICQ, Y! Messenger, and MSN Messenger: This is the software for the instant messaging clients.

5. On the Download page, click Download.

NOTE: If you choose to download a PDF, a new browser window will appear with the PDF in it. If you choose to download a software installation file, a File Download - Security Warning dialog box will appear.
6. From the File Download - Security Warning dialog box, click Save.

7. In the Save As dialog box, from the Save in drop-down menu, click to select a location to save the file. Click Save.
