How do I set up BlackBerry Internet E-mail using a My T-Mobile Account?

NOTE: The following system requirements must be met to log in and manage account options using your computer:
  • Internet browser: Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 6.0 (or later), Mozilla® Firefox™ version 1.0, Opera version 8.0, or Safari™ version 1.2.
  • Operating System: Windows® 98, 98 Second Edition, 2000, ME, XP, or Mac OS® 9.0 or 10.0.
NOTE: This article assumes that you are registered for My T-Mobile. For more information about registering for My T-Mobile, go to My T-Mobile.
To set up BlackBerry Internet E-mail using a My T-Mobile account, perform the following steps:
1. Go to My T-Mobile and log in. For more information, go to How do I log in to My T-Mobile?
2. Under Learn, select Messages and e-mail.
NOTE: This link is only available if you have selected a BlackBerry® as your phone in My T-Mobile. Verify that a picture of your BlackBerry® is shown in the center of the home page when you log in to My T-Mobile.
3. Under Connect and Share, click Configure e-mail.
4. From Add e-mail account, within the E-mail Address, Password, and Confirm Password text boxes, enter your e-mail address, password, and then confirm your password.
NOTE: Do not use your My T-Mobile password. If you do not know your e-mail account password, contact your e-mail account provider.
5. Click Next.
NOTE: Upon authentication, your e-mail account appears under Valid E-mail Account.
NOTE: If your e-mail account does not authenticate, you will be alerted with a dialog box. Click OK, and then continue with the following steps:
6. Under Internet Service Provider E-mail (POP/IMAP), Outlook™/ Exchange™, or Lotus Notes® / Domino™, select how you access your e-mail, and then select Next.
NOTE: For this example, I use Microsoft® Outlook™ or Outlook Express™ is selected.

Internet Service Provider E-mail (POP/IMAP)

Select from the following options:

I use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express

NOTE: If you use Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express, the BlackBerry Internet E-mail service can download a small program to detect and configure your e-mail accounts based on the settings you already use with these programs.
8. From the download dialog box, select Download.

8. Enter the following information about your e-mail account, and then select Try Again:
  • E-mail Address: Enter your e-mail address.
  • User Name: Enter the username you use to log in to your e-mail account.
  • Password: Enter the password you use to access this e-mail account.
  • Server: Enter the e-mail server address for your Internet service provider (ISP) (example, mail.ispname.com). Contact your ISP if you do not know the e-mail server address.
  • Server Type: Enable the SSL encryption for retrieving messages from this account, if it is supported by your ISP.

Outlook™/Exchange™

I can access my e-mail account using a Web browser (Outlook™ Web Access)
8. Enter the following information about your e-mail account, and then select Next:
  • Outlook Web Access URL: Enter the Web address for your Microsoft® Outlook Web Access (OWA) account.
  • E-mail Address: Enter your e-mail address.
  • User Name: This is the username you use to access your organization’s network or e-mail system. You may have to also include your NT domain. For example, NTDOMAIN\Username.
  • Password: This is the password used to access your organization’s e-mail. This is your NT password.

I always use Outlook™ to access my e-mail account
NOTE: Use this option if you use Microsoft Outlook to access your organization’s Outlook/Exchange e-mail system, but do not have access to a Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) site, or OWA is not enabled. This option downloads a small program to re-direct your e-mail from your workstation to your BlackBerry®.
8. From the Mail Connector dialog box, select Download.

Lotus Notes®/Domino™

I always use Lotus Notes to access my e-mail account
NOTE: If you use IBM Lotus Notes, the BlackBerry Internet E-mail service can download a small program to re-direct your e-mail from your workstation to your BlackBerry®.
8. From the Mail Connector dialog box, select Download.
