*Internet Service Providers (ISP) and Internet-based e-mail providers supply or support the use of several different e-mail clients to access their e-mail services. Examples of popular e-mail clients are Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Entourage, Qualcomm Eudora, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc. Most Internet-based e-mail services are accessed via your Internet browser, but often offer a means for you to access your mail account via POP3 or IMAP. If this access is enabled or configured for your e-mail account, you may use one of the above-mentioned clients to access your account. Check with your e-mail provider to see if POP3 or IMAP access to your e-mail is an option.
**Ask your IT help desk professional if BlackBerry Enterprise Server is an option for you.
Post office protocol 3 (POP3) is one of the two most common methods for receiving e-mail. Most Internet service providers (ISP) will provide e-mail accounts that you may access via POP3. Internet-based providers may also provide this access for an additional fee. Check with your e-mail provider to see if POP3 access to your e-mail is an option.
Internet mail application protocol (IMAP) is the second most commonly used method for receiving e-mail. ISPs such as AOL® use IMAP to allow you to access your e-mail account without using the AOL® e-mail software. Check with your e-mail provider to see if IMAP access to your e-mail is an option.
