Creating a CSD connection
To create a CSD connection, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Open the Main Menu and select Start. |
| 3. | Select the Connections tab. |
| 4. | Select the Connections option in the Connections tab. |
| 5. | Select Internet Settings. |
| 9. | Enter a name for your connection. For example: ISP Connection. |
| 10. | From the Modem drop-down menu, select your modem type from the following: |
- Cellular Line (NOT GPRS): using the phone service
- Hayes Compatible on COM1: using an external modem connected by a cable
- Generic IrDA Modem: using a modem card
NOTE: To access the Internet without using the Voice Stream phone service, use an external modem or install a modem card. To connect an external modem, use a NULL modem cable and appropriate adaptors.
| 11. | Type the ISP dial-up access phone number. Obtain this information from your local Internet service provider (ISP). |
NOTE: If your ISP requires a static IP or specific DNS settings, from Connections, under the Advanced tab, select TCP/IP. Type the static IP address. Select Name servers, and then type the specific DNS address. Tap OK, and then tap Next.
| 12. | From CONNECTION, under Internet Settings, select Modify. |
| 13. | To set the default connection, from the Modem tab, click and hold the desired connection. Select ALWAYS DIAL, and then select OK. |
| 14. | From Internet Settings, select CONNECT. Type your ISP user name and password. To automatically connect next time, select Save password. |
Creating a GPRS connection
To create a GPRS connection, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Open the Main Menu and select Start. |
| 3. | Select the Connections tab. |
| 4. | From the Connections tab, select Connections. |
| 5. | From the first drop-down menu, select New. |
| 6. | From the My Connection screen, select the Modem tab. |
NOTE: For ease of identification, rename My Connection to T-Mobile Internet.
| 8. | Type a name for the connection, such as T-Mobile Internet. |
| 9. | From the Modem drop-down menu, select Cellular Line (GPRS). |
| 10. | Set BAUD to the highest setting (115200). Tap NEXT. |
| 11. | At Access Point name, type the appropriate APN: |
- Standard connections: internet2.voicestream.com
- VPN connections: internet3.voicestream.com
NOTE: For the correct APN, consult Samson SOC.
| 13. | Select the Proxy Server tab. Select This network connects to the Internet and This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet. Within the Proxy Server text box, type getmorespeed.t-mobile.com. |
| 14. | Tap Advanced. Within the Port text box, change 80 to 8080, and then tap OK. |
| 15. | Tap OK. From the When needed, automatically connect to the Internet using these settings drop-down menu, select T-Mobile Internet. |
NOTE: To access the Internet, open Internet Explorer and go to the desired Web site.

Setting up VPN access
To set up VPN access, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Open the Main Menu and select Start. |
| 3. | Select the Connections tab. |
| 4. | From When needed, automatically connect to Work using these settings, select Work Settings. |
| 5. | From the Modem tab, select New. |
| 6. | Type a name for the connection, such as T-Mobile Internet. From the Modem drop-down menu, select Cellular Line (GPRS). |
| 7. | Set BAUD to the highest setting (115200). Tap NEXT. |
| 8. | At Access Point name, type internet3.voicestream.com. |
| 10. | From the VPN tab, select New. |
| 11. | Type a name for the VPN connection. At Host name or IP address of destination, type the VPN information. |
| 13. | To connect, select the desired option. Connect appears. |
NOTE: A pop-up screen appears. Type your user name, password, and domain information to log in.
