Adding contacts to the phone book

To add contacts to the phone book, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, type the contact's phone number.
2. Select Save.
3. Select Mobile number, Work number, or Home number.
4. Select SIM or Phone.
5. Type the contact's name, and then select OK.

Calling a contact stored in the phone book

To call a contact stored in the phone book, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Down Navigation key to access the phone book.
2. Scroll to the desired contact, and then press the green Send key.

Writing and sending a text message

To write and send a text message, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Left Navigation key to access the text entry screen.
2. Type your message, and then select Options.
3. Select Send only or Save and Send.
4. Type the recipient’s phone number, or press the Left Soft key to select Ph. Book. If accessing the phone book, scroll to the desired contact, and then select OK.
5. Select OK to send.

Using the text input modes

The phone supports the following text input methods: T9® predictive text mode, Alphabet mode, Number mode, and Symbol mode.

  • Type words with only one keystroke per letter. This method is based on a built-in dictionary.
  • Press the Pound (#) key to insert a space.
  • Press the 1 key to insert periods (.), hyphens (-), or apostrophes (').
  • Press the Star (*) key to change between lowercase and uppercase letters.
  • Press the Cancel key to clear.
  • If you do not see the word that you want, press the Down Navigation key, or press the 0 key until the correct word appears.
  • To add a new word to the dictionary, press the Down Navigation key to cycle through all of the words. When there are no more words to choose from, the display shows Add on the bottom line. Select Add. Type the word that you want using Alphabet mode, and then select OK to add the word to the dictionary.

  • Press the phone key with the corresponding letter until the desired letter appears.
  • Press the Pound (#) key to insert a space.
  • Press 1 to insert periods, hyphens, or apostrophes.
  • Press the Star (*) key to shift case.
  • Press the Cancel key to clear.

  • Press the keys with the corresponding digits.
  • Press the Pound (#) key to insert a space.
  • Press the Cancel key to clear.
Symbol mode
  • Press the Cancel key to clear.
  • Press Up and Down Navigation keys to see more symbols.
  • Press the Soft key to cancel.

Changing the text input mode

To change the text input mode, press the Right Soft key. The current text mode is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Sending a picture message from the Messages menu

NOTE: You can also send picture messages using the camera and video applications.
To send a picture message from the Messages menu, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Menu.
2. Select Messages.
3. Scroll to and select Pictures messages.
4. Select Create.
5. Select Add content.
6. There are several send options available. Select one of the following options to continue:

Adding videos ›
Adding downloaded pictures ›
Adding sounds ›

Adding text

To add text, perform the following steps:
1. Select Add text.
2. Type your message, and then select OK.
3. Select Options, and then select Add content to add more content, or go to Step 7 to send the message.

Adding pictures taken from the camera

To add pictures taken from the camera, perform the following steps:
1. Select Add My Photo, and then select Select photo.
2. Select the desired picture.
3. Select Options, and then select Add content to add more content, or go to Step 7 to send the message.

Adding videos

To add videos, perform the following steps:
1. Select Add My Video, and then select Select video or Downloaded video.
2. Select the desired video.
3. Select Options, and then select Add content to add more content, or go to Step 7 to send the message.

Adding downloaded pictures

To add downloaded pictures, perform the following steps:
1. Select Add picture.
2. Scroll to the desired picture, and then select View.
3. Press the Left Soft key to select the picture.
4. Select Options, and then select Add content to add more content, or go to Step 7 to send the message.

Adding sounds

To add sounds, perform the following steps:
1. Select Add sound.
2. Select Voice list.
3. Select the desired voice memo.
4. Select Options, and then select Add content to add more content, or go to Step 7 to send the message.
7. Select Options, and then select Add destination.
8. Select To, Cc, or Bcc.
9. Select Recent log, Phone number, E-Mail, or Phonebook.
10. Type or select the recipient's information. You can send to multiple recipients.
11. Press the Soft key until you return to the Options menu.
12. Scroll to and select Send in message.
13. Select Send message.

Setting ringtones

To set ringtones, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Menu.
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select Sound settings.
4. Select Ring tone.
NOTE: Ringtones downloaded from www.t-mobile.com are found in Ring tone, and are also found in Funbox > Sounds.
5. Scroll to and select the desired tone.

Adjusting the backlight

To adjust the backlight, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Menu.
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select Display settings.
4. Scroll to and select Backlight.
5. Scroll to and select the desired duration.

Formatting the multimedia card

To format the multimedia card, insert the multimedia card into the multimedia card slot on the phone. The phone displays Reading MMC while it formats the card. The following folders are added to the multimedia card during the format: Samsung > Audio, Samsung > Photo, and Samsung > Video.

Checking phone memory

To check phone memory, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Menu.
2. Open an application.
3. Scroll to and select Select memory location.
4. Select Phone.
5. Scroll to and select Memory status. The phone memory information will display.
6. Select Next to display used memory.

Checking multimedia card memory

To check multimedia card memory, perform the following steps:
1. Insert the multimedia card into the phone.
2. At the main screen, select Menu.
3. Open an application.
4. Scroll to and select Select memory location.
5. Select MMC.
6. Scroll to and select Memory status. The multimedia card memory information will display.
7. Select Next to display used memory.

Recording a voice memo

To record a voice memo, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Menu.
2. Scroll to and select Application.
3. Scroll to and select Voice memo.
4. Select Record voice.
NOTE: Select Memory status to view the available memory for voice memos. You have a total of 105 kilobytes (KBs) of space allocated for voice memos. Select Voice list to view a list of your memos.

Accessing the Internet

To access the Internet, perform the following steps:
1. Press the t-zones® key.
2. At the t-zones home page, select Menu.
3. Scroll to and select Go to URL.
4. Type the Web address, and then select OK.
