Release 2.0 Over-the-Air Update for SidekickŪ II (January 2005)
The latest T-Mobile Sidekick II update is here! This update will deliver general performance enhancements as well as improvements to the audio quality of the phone. You will not see any visible changes on your Sidekick II. The new software will be available at the end of January and all customers should receive it by the end of February.
Your Sidekick II will display a notification message informing you that a system update is available. We appreciate your patience with this process.
If you previously downloaded items from the Download Fun™ catalog, those items will re-download to your device shortly. You may receive a prompt to reinstall them (at no charge). If you would like to check the status of your previously downloaded items, you can visit the Purchases screen in the Download Fun catalog.
We appreciate your patience with this process, and we hope you enjoy your Sidekick II!

The over-the-air update will consist of two separate parts:
  • Operating System (OS) upgrade
  • Radio firmware upgrade
NOTE: The radio firmware upgrade will improve overall network connectivity for your Sidekick.
When your Sidekick II is ready to begin the update process, you will receive a notification on your device that says Your device is ready for a system update. When would you like to restart your device to activate the update?
  • Activate Now
  • In a Few Minutes
  • Remind Me Tomorrow
Select Activate Now. A progress bar will show the status of the installation. When the installation is complete, your device will reboot, and you will be running the upgraded software. Shortly after resuming the service, your device should begin the download of the radio firmware. You will see the same Your device is ready for a system update notification. Select Activate Now.
