Over the course of this week, we are rolling out a fancy new paint job for all of our device home pages. We've added large amounts of content (including set after set of how-to procedure documents), and this new design will help us better showcase that content. Here is a contrast of the old and new layouts:

Classic layout

New layout

new2.png

Our new layout lets us present critical support documentation in the forefront. Additionally, customers can now use the home page to navigate to the type of info they're looking for (like 'Tech Specs' or 'Help & How To') and then go from there. Let's take a look at how the new design works!

Controlling the main widget

left-top.png

Use the buttons in the top, left-hand navigation area to control the main widget on the right. This will flip through "pages" of quick content.

  • Welcome has content for getting started and setting up your device
  • Tech Specs shows a list of some of the most pertinent featues and offers a link to the full specification sheet
  • Help & How To shows a list of "how to" or "common procedure" categories to choose from

Using the How To categories

help-how.png

If you choose the Help & How To option, you will see a selection of commonly used procedure types. Each of these links will take you to a list of all documents specific to this device and filtered by the category you've selected.

  • All categories here are appropriately named to the content they show
  • The links here will only show content specific to the device you're looking at, so you don't have to worry about finding irrelevant help
  • The last link is always a link to show all of the documentation for the platform itself (Android, BlackBerry, Windows or general information)

Jumping to related support

left-bottom.png

Sometimes what you're looking for can be found elsewhere, and that's where our Related Support selection comes in. If you're looking for information on third-party applications, steps straight from the manufacturer or maybe tips and tricks from other Support Community users you can use these buttons to get around.

  • Applications will take you to a space that has information on select smart phone downloads and apps separated by platform (Android, BlackBerry, Windows and Nokia OVI/Symbian)
  • Android Develeopment will only show up on Android devices and it takes to you a special section for heavy-duty customization and modification discussions (Note: this is not supported by T-Mobile and is a user-driven area of our Community)
  • Customer Discussions will show you all of the conversations and questions being passed around by our Support Community users. If you have a question we haven't covered in our documentation, you can check here to see if anyone else has come across it
  • Manufacturer Site will open a new window (or tab, if you're using an up-to-date browser) that will show your device manufacturer's support content off of the T-Mobile Support site

Enhanced search results

search-results.png

Results you get in the search widget will now be separated out to show all the different areas you could find helpful content related to your device.

  • Support documentation specific to your device will be in the first section
  • Content that could be applicabale to all devices in that platform category will be next (for example, all Android devices)
  • More general content that could apply to simply any equipment will be in the third area (things like tracking information and replacing stolen devices can be found here)
  • User-generated support discussions, questions and answers are featured at the bottom
  • You can click the "Search more..." link in the bottom-right of each section to see more than three results from that area

You will see these updates rolling out to each device throughout the week. We hope this helps getting around and finding helpful content even easier! Again, as always, your feedback has driven the improvements here and we appreciate that!

Many thanks and well wishes from your T-Mobile Support team!

If you're looking for a little insight on navigating the newly redesigned Billing or Plans & Services topic areas, then you've come to the right place!

Here are some basics to help you get around like a pro and find out how to...

Using the topic carousel

caro-ex.png

  • Use the arrows to scroll through options
  • Click the icons to go to support content

You can use the left and right arrows to look at the available topics in these areas. After you find what you want, just click on the icon to view the documentation we have available. If you go too far to either side, this carousel just wraps around and goes back through the list.

Using the new search

  • Type in a question or search terms; you don't have to hit Enter!
  • Wait a second then view the results
  • Results will be organized by Topic area, Documentation and user-created Discussions

Our search now categorizes results simply for you! The first section you will see will be other topic areas related to your search, official documentation relevant to your search and user-generated discussions on the same topic!

Reading the topic tiles

  • Use the drop-down in Browse Support to quickly move to other popular topic areas of T-Mobile Support
  • Use the My T-Mobile tile to manage your account, upgrade your phone, change your services or pay your bill
  • If you need extra help, use our Contact Us tile to find out how to reach us
  • In Billing, learn how to check important usage information from your phone
  • In Plans & Services, use the Shop links to look at our available rate plans and features

The left sidebar gives you quick, easy access to other content all around T-Mobile Support and My T-Mobile. On top of that, you can find self-help tips and info on how to contact us if you need.

Over the last several months, we've made great strides in bolstering and improving our content. In addition to adding more helpful information, we want to make sure the navigation experience is as simple and natural as possible for everyone. We're very happy to announce that we have restructed and improved the layout of our Billing and Plans & Services areas!

Before, these topics looked like this:

Billing (Before)

Plans & Services (Before)

Now, we've added a lot!

  • Sub-type tiles to better organize content you're looking for
  • Carousel navigation to easily find the kind of content you need
  • Improved search widget that filters content by type
  • New Browse Support module to allow quick jumps to other areas of T-Mobile Support
  • Easy to locate contact info in-case you need to reach out for more help
  • Syncronized experience to make navigating more familiar

You will now find support content organized by types so that it will be easier to narrow down what you're looking for. Also, our search functionality has improved in topic areas! Search results now filter our results by other topic areas, staff-created documentation and user-generated discussions! We also want it to be very easy for you to get around, so we've added a "Browse Support" widget that allows you to jump to other areas in T-Mobile Support quickly with a simple drop-down menu!

Here is what you'll see now:

We really hope you enjoy the new look and feel! We appreciate all of the feedback you've provided to help us put this together. Thank you very much for helping us grow our new Support site. We will continue to do what we can to provide the best experience for you. In fact, keep an eye out next week for another improvement we have coming down the pipe!

Cheers from your T-Mobile Support team!
